SPORTEPL: You won’t play again – Arteta ready to terminate Arsenal player’s contractPublished on September 6, 2023By Ifreke Inyang Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has told Nicolas Pepe that he will not play under him again. The UK Mirror reports that club chiefs are trying to agree a pay-off with the Ivorian. The 28-year-old joined Arsenal from Lille in a £72 million deal four years ago, becoming their record signing. Pepe has scored 27 goals in 112 games for the Gunners but has since fallen down Arteta’s pecking order and spent last season on loan at Nice. So far, Pepe has failed to find a new team this summer and has less than 12 months left on his current deal. He will not be able to complete a move until January, unless his contract is terminated. A move to the Saudi Pro League before their transfer window closes on Friday seems unlikely, although Turkish teams can sign players until September 15.
